Event Details

On Feb. 1, 2012, the world’s best high school-age players will return to Austin, Texas to play in USA Football’s International Bowl.

The International Bowl is an annual competition matching the U.S. Under-19 National Team in football, composed of high school seniors, against the World Team selected by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). Including the United States, 62 countries spanning six continents possess a national federation of sport dedicated solely to American football and governed by IFAF.

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body in the United States, assembles and manages U.S. national teams for international competition.

The Feb. 1 contest coincides with National Signing Day, when Team USA and World Team players will sign national letters of intent during a morning breakfast event to play college football. Forty-six (46) eventual college football players from both teams in last year’s game signed their letters of intent in Austin this past February alongside family, friends and media.

A weeklong training camp for both teams also will be conducted in Austin prior to the game. The United States defeated the World Team, 21-14, on Feb. 2 at Austin Westlake High School in the 2011 contest, which was telecast internationally and made available to more than 100 million U.S. households live and on tape delay.

Current Texas Longhorns RB JOE BERGERON, WR JAXON SHIPLEY and CB JOSH TURNER played on Team USA in 2011. Bergeron earned the game’s Most Valuable Player award with 118 yards and two TDs on 15 carries.
